SCHD: "Space Babies" Bus Wrap
/Shelby County Health Department, in partnership with A Step Ahead Foundation
“Space Babies” shows a 2-year old astronaut exploring space, with his pregnant mother’s belly positioned as a planet. With so little awareness around the importance of waiting between pregnancies, few parents have even heard the term “birth spacing.” Space Babies leverages this lack of awareness to make a big first impression. Together, the headline and visual seem so absurd that the viewer will devote their full attention to discerning the message — creating a completely captive audience.
With baby spacing messaging, it’s important to illuminate the benefits beyond just the physical health of the mother. For example, babies are less likely to regress when another sibling isn’t born right after them. And of course, the whole family benefits from having time to bond with each other before having another baby.
